Helping children and families build a better future
through Education, Empowerment & Enterprise.
Welcome to the Educate a Child Project. We're a small, non-profit organization headed by Dr. Pramilla Senanayake, who lives in Colombo, Sri Lanka. For more than 20 years she has been working with the children and families of Kalutara, Sri Lanka and mostly funding her activities herself.
What began as her personal project to outfit children for school has, in the aftermath of the tsunami, expanded in scope. Today the mission of EACT works toward achieving four goals:
- To annually equip almost 900 local children with the necessities required to attend public school.
- To build a new village of 48 homes that will replace those lost by some of the EACT families in the tsunami.
- To construct a Community Center that will serve as the heart of the new village of 48 houses and provide education and social services to hundreds of EACT families in the Kalutara area.
- To make our new village and programs a model that can be duplicated elsewhere in Sri Lanka.
We invite you to join our efforts and become part of the EACT community. We pledge to keep you informed on our activities so that you can share in our successes as we grow.
