A VISIT FROM CHANDRAN RUTNAM Chandran and Nihara Rutnam

Prominent Sri Lankan filmmaker and businessman, Chandran Rutnam, visited our EACT community in January. He is the brother of Padmini Johns, a Sri Lanka native who lives in California. Padmini and her husband, John, have been instrumental in raising much of the funding to build and support the Community Center. Chandran was joined by his activist wife, Nihara. Here are some of the comments they directed to the group of Americans who have enthusiastically supported the Community Center and its programs.

"It was a wonderful experience. The children had prepared a mini-concert with dancers, poetry and songs. There were speeches by the leaders of the community. After lunch, we visited several homes. It was nice to see the attitude, the appreciation and the continuous efforts and dedication in the "Educate a Child" project."

"We were so overwhelmed with the children's performances, attitudes and curiosities that we offered a scholarship of free education to anyone who wishes to become a pilot or would be interested in a career in Aeronautical Engineering."

"Pramilla has done a splendid job and continues to do it with a great deal of enthusiasm and dedication. "

"We plan to visit the project more often, and we shall watch the progress and enjoy the comraderie of the people of the community."

"Congratulations! You guys have done a great job. Keep it up!"
